Dr. William Kerr
- President
... received a Bachelor of Science in Biology Degree from the University of Toronto in 1983 and Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1987.
Dr. Kerr is a strong believer in volunteerism and travel to El Porvenir Honduras annually to provide dental care to school children. In addition to his duties on the Volunteer Dental Outreach Board and as dentist responsible for clinic operations, Dr. Kerr volunteers at the VDO at least twice a month. |

Lisa Kerr
B.Sc., L.L.B.,
- Director
In addition to her ongoing work with the Volunteer Dental Outreach as a clinic volunteer bookkeeper and receptionist, Lisa has sat on a number of volunteer boards including: The Haliburton Highlands Health Services Board for four years, (two of which as Chair of the Quality Committee), Doctor Recruitment Committee, Those Other Movies Committee (8 years). Lisa has worked as a dental office manager and bookkeeper for over 22 years. Hobbies include piano, violin and stage managing the local production of the Nutcracker.

Betty Mills
- Secretary and Board Member
Married with a large blended family, Betty came to Haliburton in 1997 after 27 years of teaching. A founding member of the Highlands Summer Festival in 1999, she has held various leadership roles including producer, treasurer and set painting coordinator. Betty was on the steering committee for Arts Council Haliburton Highlands. Singing and accompanying musical groups have been some of her hobbies. Lions Clubs International, a world- wide service organization, is also a high priority in her life. |

Janis Parker Board Chair and Treasurer
Janis made Kennisis Lake her permanent residence in 2010, after 35 years of commuting.Janis graduated from York University with a desire to teach outdoor education, however a surplus of teacher in the late 70's, nixed those plans. Currently she is President of Parker, Pad & Printing Ltd., which has offices in Haliburton & Markham. Janis sits on a number of Boards including Land Trust and U-links. Janis is proud to be Chair of the Volunteer Dental Outreach, and overwhelmed with the difference it is making in our community. |

Mark Arike
- Director
Mark Arike first found out about the Volunteer Dental Outreach for Haliburton County (VDO) while on the job as a reporter for one of the county's community newspapers.
After following the work of the VDO and undergoing a pricy dental procedure of his own (root canal), Mark decided to join the board of directors last year. Mark has utilized his communication skills to help spread the work of the clinic and its volunteers through press releases, email blasts, the local media (newspaper and radio) and social media.
In addition, Mark has provided hands-on support at fundraising events such as the VDO's annual golf tournament. |

Heike Roome
- Director
Heike has been volunteering with the VDO fundraising golf tournament since it’s inception and is excited to join the board of directors. Heike in a PBA with TD Canada Trust Minden, where she started in 1999, 3 years after moving to Minden. Heike in her spare time enjoys reading, walking, golf, and spending time on Mountain Lake with Alex and their three grandchildren. |

Kathy Purc,
- Director
Kathy Purc left the employment world three years ago having spent fourteen years in the dental industry, ten years in accounting for a chartered accounting firm, and more than a decade as the Human Resources Manager for a mid-size Ontario vocational rehab company.
She contributes to the operation of the Volunteer Dental Outreach for Haliburton County as a business assistant. |

Melanie Aldom
- Vice-President
Melanie Aldom is a Restorative Dental Hygienist currently living and practicing in the Haliburton Highlands. She and her husband Matthew love spending time together outdoors with their 4 young children. You will find them at the local ski hill or curling rink in the winter and enjoying the family cottage in the summer. She has been an active volunteer at the dental outreach clinic since it opened in 2010.

Brigitte Gebauer
Brigitte Gebauer graduated from York University with an Honours BA in English Literature. She ran both a Retreat Centre, called The Starlight Centre and an event production company called Starlight Event between 1994-2005, specializing in bringing international speakers and bestselling authors to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
She moved to the Haliburton Highlands in 2005 and is currently employed at Community Care Haliburton County as the Coordinator of Volunteer Resources.
Brigitte volunteers in numerous ways in the community including for Canoe FM, The Forest Festival and the VDO.
Volunteer Dental Outreach is an inspirational example of grass roots actions solving obvious gaps in our health care and social service systems and Brigitte is excited to be involved in making it a success.
